First I'd like to say I'm feeling exceedingly proud of myself right now...
That being said I want to share my Viagra commercial moment. Today the wife drove the cager and I rode Crystal to work. After work we met up at "In and Out Burger" for dinner, and after eating decided to make separate errand stops on the way home. I was on my way to pick up some beer about 6 blocks from home when in the parking lot my throttle cable broke :crying: . The OLD me started to panic and then I just chilled and decided to think about this for a moment. Hmmm...I'm only 6 blocks from home, and my apt complex is at the bottom of a hill. For some reason the tutorial about getting home w/o a clutch cable came to mind and even though that wasn't going to help me I just knew that kind of calm thinking would get me home. I knew I was riding a great running flat 6 Wing and these girls have some oomf! So I decided to put her in gear and ease the clutch out and head for that hill. It worked, she took the load with easily but I had 300 yards to travel to get to the hill and I was only going about 2-3 mph, then what to do about speed once I'm at that hill. You see people fly down that hill, it's marked 45 mph but most do 50-55 mph 2-3 mph even for a short bit to gain speed would be risking suicide. About 150 yards from the hill I had a flash of inspiration THE CHOKE! :yahoo: Now I know it wouldn't be smart to drive across town using the choke, but six blocks!?! And really it was just to get going and if I had to stop at the light(near the top of the hill) to get going again. By the time I got to the turn at the hill I was cruising at 30 mph -> no traffic so I made my turn -> I was in 4th in no time and was going to make the light(crosswalk was lit going my direction!) -> eased off the choke cause I was nearly coasting in fourth down the hill now :moped: -> made the right turn onto my street then my driveway and used the choke to climb back up the hill that is my driveway and parked Crystal w/o incident. :thank_you: I have never handled a vehicle emergency this well.
Oh and what about the beer? Janet just went to get it for me so I could write this. I'm a truly lucky dawg.
