I have been wanting a trailer and have noticed that alot of ya,ll are talking about this harbor freight trailer. But when I read the details and specs, it said only rated for 55MPH.

Have ya,ll upgraded the bearings and or tires to make it safe at higher speeds ??

John is the best to answer this one as he uses one, but 55 only keeps the lawyers happy. With proper inspections and maintanance those trailers should be fine at 75 mph without upgrading the bearings, however, if you plan to enlarge the wheels, change the bearing first.

Thanks for the input !

I was thinking the same thing about the lawyers.

For that price, it would be hard to beat. Would prob just put better wheel bearing grease in and keep an eye on the tires.

Might have to bite the bullet and get me one

Normally the wheel bearings are the same size ( just better quality) , the main problem is the small diameter wheels that do lots more revolutions than bigger wheels :(

main recommendation from others who bought is to clean old grease org and regrease with quality wheel grease as the original is not set for heavy use more a packing grease... also going to a 12 inch wheel will make bearings run cooler..

I'm the "John" Gerry was talking about....

*the 8" tires are fine for the expected loads you'll be carrying.
*decrease tire pressure to about 20psi and removed all but the main leaf on the springs.
*use Mobil1 synthetic grease on the bearings after a thorough cleaning.
*seriously consider lengthening the tongue 24" for much better tracking.

I've made a number of other changes to mine, but those are the important ones.

Peace out :rocks:
