We finally were paid out for Ruth's car ( mine was recovered and written off 3 weeks earlier) and I was able to get it shipped up from the dealer in Melbourne who had been awaiting our payment. I decided to catch the 5.52 am train into Brisbane from Beenleigh so that I could use the CityCat to make my way downriver to Hamilton where the car should be waiting. Luckily things turned out better than expected and the new car was everything that the dealer had said ( fellow motorcyclist ( BMW Gs 1100)) as we had bought it sight unseen.
Here are some pics of my efforts

Our new to us replacement Foresters

Sad they had to arrive the way they did but it looks like a nice little upgrade. I've been looking around here for a newer forester to replace my aging legacy wagon. Not in a big hurry yet though. What's the seat height from the ground in the darker one?

I will have to check it for you Slab. Ruth is only 5'2" and has it adjusted to its maximum height atm. The 07 (silver one) is the same as the one she had stolen ( except more miles and knocked around and not a one owner or her first brand new car in 25 years) and is smaller than the diesel 10 but she is not having any problems with the upgrade. Luckily we had agreed values with the insurance company and by smart shopping ( I drove down to Sydney Friday night as was back home 2am Sunday morning with the 07) we managed an upgrade effectively of our cars.

They are both a good height. The 07 is my car and I really love it as that was the last of that shape and the main reason we bought our new one. I am really impressed with the Diesel 10 so far as it has a lot more interior room and I did want a diesel so that it has more engine braking going down the "dreaded driveway".

Thanks Randy. Things are almost normal again apart from the extra security. I also managed to finally put the application in to bring the Rats Nest home to Oz. :moped: :good: :moped:

Very nice! I'm really glad to see things working out for the two of you. After all th BS you've been through since you got back home, you deserva an upgrade! Maybe you'll get the Rat's Nest for Christmas...

Sounds like us years ago all the Outbacks were 2.5 turbos in the US but we only got the non forced induction ones over here.
