Stella is going to get some work done I ordered a carb sync. kit Sunday from Z1 in New York and it came today. :music:
Pretty good deal I think $57.02 for kit and $7.99 shipping $65.00 total. :Egyptian:
Comes with everything 4 adjustable vacuum gauges, adaptors, hoses and metering valves. SWEET

Be sure to set all the gauges to the same vacuum source to begin with.
I knew that just forgot to do it. lol  getting old is a real bummer I guess they say the memory is the second thing to go I forgot what goes first.
Hooked them up to Stella yesterday to tune her up and what a pain it turned into.
I got a tip for anyone who does a alt. conversion make sure the lower bracket is not too long to get in the way of the tube you need to put into the intake manifold of number two cylinder.
Or you will be pulling the alt. and bracket off to grind it back or put a hole in it so you can get the tube in.
I got them on and warmed her up and they all read within a inch just like she had just had it done. ( I was kind of dispointed)
But I will check the gauges and hope they read the same. :thanks:

Someday I'll get one of those. I'm way short on cash at the moment, so I tried to sync mine with the water bottle trick and was very unsuccessful. I dinked with it all day, and no matter what I did, it wouldn't run under 1800 rpm with equal pressure in all the bottles. So I just unplugged it all and did it by ear and feel. I finally got it good enough that I can turn the idle down to about 500 rpm. But I need it higher to keep the volt meter up. I still hear that "slight" jumbling hammer sound when I blip the throttle, but other than that, when I took it out for a quick test ride it seemed to take off a lot smoother, and cruise a little nicer than before. Waiting at a light I could swear the exhaust sounds a little like a dead misfire, but it feels smooth and the vibration I had from the handlebars is gone. Maybe because the idle is now set about 200rpm slower than it was before? I used to have the rpm up around 1400-1500 for the charging system, and now it's around 1200-1300 rpm.

So far all my carbs have been set by ear also. Same issue low funds and no gauges. Some where I have a plan for a home built adjuster. I should get that out and check it.

I found a single vacuum gauge at a yard sale for $1 and just set them one at a time off #3 then, hooked up my two bottles and they were nice and equal. If using the bottles make sure you put a restriction inline to dampen the pulsing. Those fish tank restrictors work nice and are cheap enough.

Harbor freight has some gauges for $9 each

just a thought.do you all a tech school any where near? they may have the gages and it would be overseen by a teacher.and they shouldn't charge but maybe 20.bucks or so.and if you talk to the right persom they may just let you do while the student waches. then you know it's right.
just an idea..

I tried it again today. I think my initial problem was that the restrictions in the hoses were too big. Trying to make shift with what I could find laying around the place here. Here's what I ended up doing (made my own) I took 4 of those cone shaped tops from silicon tubes that I hadn't used. I seldom use them, and I save them to plug vacuum hoses. I cut the tips off just big enough to push up into the hoses, but before I shoved them in the hoses I drilled a 5/64" hole through the tips. Turns out these holes could have been even smaller to work better. So once I was set up and warmed up, I pinched the hose that connects left and right banks. (This looked like it was pinched closed, but apparently it was only restricted) Then I adjusted 1 & 3. Then I went over to the other side and adjusted 2 & 4. This caused 1 & 3 to need adjusting again, which then caused 2 & 4 to need adjusting again, and so on, back and forth. And every time I adjusted the idle, I had to go back and adjust each bank accordingly. After about half an hour I was at a point where I could unpinch the left and right banks, and had to mess with it a little more to get it all balanced. Once I had it equal enough to idle so low that the oil light was flickering, I started turning the idle up a little at a time, readjusting 1 & 3 and 2 & 4 until I was satisfied with the balance at 1300 rpm.

I did crush my plastic Sobie bottles in the process. So I highly recommend saving up your glass quart size bourbon bottles if you intend to do this.
