I recently got a Vetter headlamp cover, but when I put it on the headlamp bucket it doesn't seem to be very secure. Does the original bezel have to be in place for the cover to stay on? I currently have only the bucket (no rim, sealed beam or retaining rings) on my 77 gl1000. The inside edge of the rubber vetter cover has a ridge which looks like it's supposed to go into a crevice (like you might see as the joint between the bucket and the headlamp bezel. So... any experience on this thing out there? Thanks!
Here's a pic of the cover (note the ridge in the right image):

I've seen them but never used one. My bucket was removed... if it were to fall off while riding, that could be enlightening... maybe you would be better off to disconnect the bulb instead.

It just fits over the rim of the bucket. Ring will not fit with the vetter fairing in place. Yes they do fit rather loose. I've not had any fall off though.

They cover all the oem bucket wiring setup.... if you are worried about it being loose.. run some duct tape around it to snug it tighter around the bucket..
