So I am the new guy for now. I am in the process of rebuilding and fixing a 1983 standard GL1100 Naked. PO wanted to make it into a Harley but I like the Wing so I have been fixing it up. Been having tons of hiccups with it but part by part it is coming. I know I am going to come to you guys a lot for help so please dont be shy. Just remember I am still kind of GREEN and hope you understand my ignorance

Welcome to the best classic Goldwings forum.

Greetings from the Sunshine State.

Live long and prosper. God bless you.

We all were green once. No one here is shy or for that matter slow to respond. Start a thread of your first issue and ask away. Welcome to the best forum on the internet.

Welcome to the site from New Jersey! :clapping:

It is OK to be Green! We all are (were?) :hihihi:

We can help you with anything you need.....just learn from our expensive mistakes and ask questions BEFORE attempting something new! There is not a nut, bolt or washer that hasn't been touched on these bikes by most of us!

Lol, when I first got my 1100 I knew nothing about this flat 4 water cooled engine but I knew it had a blown head gasket.
All I had was a Clymer manual to guide me which has lots of wrong information I didn't know about at the time but I stumbled my way through.

My first expensive mistake was cranking the engine to pop the head loose like I would do on a V8 engine.
Well...not knowing the valves would hit the piston and bend them, I bent 2.

I had a lot of problems back then with misinformation about these bikes.
It wasn't long after I started building this forum to help others avoid problems I had.

Yeah...I was green too. Still learn a lot from the guys here. It's amazing the mass of knowledge available and freely exchanged and not just about bikes, about other fields of experience that help a lot when it comes to tricks they've learned, and we have some of the best around.

Ask away, there are no dumb questions.

Welcome to the forum, and this is the place to learn about your 1100, tons of good tech information, good people, and the best old wing forum you will find. To me the GL1100 is the greatest bike of that era.

I'm looking at a sign in my shop that reads.

Answers to questions $20.00
Correct answers $40.00
Dumb looks are still free.

Here you can get lots of good information for free, what a deal.
