While at Joe's meet and greet someone had a tracker on their bike.He said his wife could go onto her computer and see where the bike was at in real time.

I have been looking to put one on my gl1100 bike. The price range is very wide. I am not sure what I need to put one of these trackers on my bike.
Would like a tracker that will track me through Canada and Alaska and North.

If you use one of these please let me know what works and what doesn't. What things do I need to look for in purchasing one of these.

My wife said she would have no idea where to send the Mounties if something happened to me on my journey.

Thank You for any input on this.

This is one offered on the Chinese site Buy in Coins. There are quite a few others that they have for sale and they all require a GSM phone card and use the cellular network for real time reporting.

I think most require some service subscription to enable the tracking feature. That is a cost option to add into the equation... if you have a smart phone there may be an app that fits this also.. I use a dress all called " glimpse" that sends out text messages for a web site to check location.. it is really useful in the when address they gonna be here frame of mindset.. I do believe that the receiver has to log in and get an account set up.. I have been sender not receiver...

A phone is not an option as service is spotty in the west, in the mountains, in parts of Canada, and Alaska and further north. I do realize a subscription will probably be a necesity for what I need. GPS is not spotty for most of the world.
