Seems the lights on my '81 don't wanna work anymore.... :sensored:
Monday, when I got to work, I noticed my left turn sig wasn't working. I played with the switch a little, and discovered if I didn't push it all the way to the left(where it's supposed to be), I had t-sigs. So, I been having to jack with the button all week, until I have time this weekend to tear into the switch and see whut's whut.
Then, this morning, I did a random check on all of the lights, as I do most mornings, and found that the front brake lever wasn't turning the brake light on. Whut NOW?!? I jiggled the wires a little, and said a few sweet werds, but never could get the brake light to light up. It works fine with the rear pedal. Then, I found that if I hit the rear pedal first, and then skweezed the front lever, the brake light would stay on even if I let go of the rear pedal. Something strange goin on here. I guess Imma gonna hafta bite the bullet, and tear into BOTH bar switches this evening... :crying: :fiddle:
Imma half skeered to look tomorrow before I leave for werk...no tellin WHUT is gonna bite the big one next. :headscratch:

Look under the brake handle. There is a small tab that holds in a pin (that is the brake light switch). The pin can get stuck and not pop out right away. It just happens that as you are holding the pedal down, it is enough time for the pin to pop allow the front brake to keep the light on. Same thing happened to me. Then, the pin popped out and stayed out keeping the brake lights on (and killing the battery at slow speeds). I ordered a new front brake light switch that solved the problem. Now it works normal.

Give that front brake switch a good cleanin and see if that cures your problem, hopefully that's all that's wrong :hi:

The pin IS moving in/out...just don't think it's actually making contact. I gotta do some cleanin, fer sher. Weather turned a bit crazy this evenin, so I'll hold off till the weekend....
