However. 81 ignition and clutch actuator can be be fitted to the 84. After 84 bike wiring will need adapted to run the 1200 and you'll need to use the hydraulic clutch.

Is the handlebar size the same, 7/8" on both years, I know my 81 is 7/8" but I don't know about the 1200..? I would imagine their the same...

I think they are the same Beav.....but that won't help with swapping the engines. :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:
 
slabghost is right on the money and 84 1200 motor is the easiest one to put in there ....been there and done that to the 82 i have .....the other 1200 yrs with there front mounted ignition can go go in 1000 frames and slip right in and fit better right in ...been there doing that now....... but for 1100 its nice to have 84 1200 for the transplant ....the other will work just have to use 1000 ignition and heads or 1200 wiring and ignition system
