Last year at the meet Joe had a BIG full screen message on his computer about some fbi warning there was to be an investigation of sites visited on their computer.
It said they had to pay some fine or some crap.

It really did look legitimate but I saw advertisers from local businesses on the page so knew right off it was bs.
Shook things up in the house boy!

I did a cleaning on the computer.
Found a bunch of malware.

Has Patty stopped doing those online surveys?
Real bad for injecting malware.

The only thing anyone is gunna win off of this is a 'puter full of CRAP....and a trip to the Geek Squad... :help:
Anything like this that specifically asks you to download an encrypted attachment to your hard drive is absolutely a red flag....DO NOT DO IT!!
My Avast program will allow opening stuff like this without downloading it. Not that I plan on testing it, of course. Since I've had Avast, I have not gotten ANYTHING nasty at all. Only a few tracking cookies, which are harmless. :good:

I only do surveys of trusted site such as my bank or Ebay. The other annoyance that I have is that when I do a trusted upgrade, I end up with some stupid menu bar & also have Bing end up as my default browser & I hate that system. I like my browser homepage to be nice & clean & free of adds or news stories. That is why I love Google. But you really have to be careful about opening Emails. I thankfully have a very good security system. Cheers Angela :heat: :smilie_happy:

Those upgrades have a tendency to have a check box defaulted to be filled in so that it allows your PC to "change" your browsers home page or search engine to what they want it to be. Just another reason to really look at and read those screens before you click "Agree" or "Accept".

Oh and for the record Angela, I despise them too.

I got one of those emails, so please let me know what happens when you open the attachment. If you won something, then I will know that I should too.

Aw, c'mon. What's the worst that could happen?
