I have been ignoring the split stitching on my seat and hoping that it wouldn’t keep getting worse but unfortunately the time came to finally do something about it.
I love the looks of the original seat with the pretty trim on the sides, the gold embossed HONDA on the back and the heat pressed pattern. I checked with my trimmer mate and he believes that he can hopefully restitch the split seam and hopefully I can reinstall the cover so that it still looks as great as before.
There are aluminium pins that have star clips that hold the decorative stainless side trims on so I used a small socket to bend them straight then a scribe/ o-ring pick to remove the clips and staples.
I have always wanted to add a gel seat pad so I have ordered this stuff so hopefully it will work out well.

Maybe use that Flex Tape (or something like it) on the inside, after the stitching, add reinforcement???
:good:

I have zero upholstery repair skills. I usually just opt for a re-cover.
I won’t be stapling it back on or inserting the gel pad into the foam, that’s were the professional skills of my mate Mickey who is sticking it up will come into play.

Haven’t got the gel pad yet and the trimmer has a crook back so no pressure from my part yet. :whistling:
I also needed some stitching repaired on the seat squab from the RTV. Luckily I now have another set of black leather seats that I could use a black squab while the maroon one is being repaired.
No chance of using the Rats Nest until the seat is finished, I think it would ruin the foam. :hihihi:
