Not to hijack, but if any of you have had any experience painting the plastic on these critters, what worked best?

There are a couple great threads on painting with rattle cans, I'm late for work but maybe someone can post a link or search yourself they are pretty recent threads.

I will go dig. but since they are not in a place where I can easily do that sort of work, I was hoping to find a shop someone knows.

Cars today have a lot of plastic too. If you prefer to have a shop repaint check with some reputable car body shops.
