here is a pic of the three pivot bolts ....one on left is the biggest and from 1800 next is 1000 and 1100 is smallest

as far as pins go the 1000 is actually longer than the 1800 one and the 1100 is a bit shorter ... isee this as a non issue ... the 1100 pin is good enough to hold up a 1100 bike reguardless of swing arm .... one could spend money to have special pivots made ..but that not what i am going to ... i will make a sleeve myself or try anyway ...it could even be a sleeve with a split in it ....to tight in god on the pin and then turn to size if need be ...and put the slit in a no load position ... lots of options here really ..we will see what i come up with :thanks:

Joe...do you ever sleep? :hihihi: Hope this mod works out....just being able to change the rear tire without a major teardown would make it worth the effort. :good:

It did in fact just stop. It needs professional welding done to the swingarm and more parts to complete. Other projects pushed this one aside for a while. It may be quite some time to complete.

Ah okay, shame because it looked like a great idea, single swingarm, makes changing that tire a piece of pi**. This is one of those times that learning a new skill even at our age can be put to very good use on Old Wings. And Joe has so many GREAT ideas. How he comes up with them gets me, when I was a kid at school used to get year reports saying "Ian has a lot of fantasy pity he didn't apply it to his school work" and "he is always building air castles" stuff like that, but even I couldn't come up with these ideas. Come on Joe. Show us the way, for sure if this works I will be one of the first to do it over here in the UK. :hi: :thanks:

Joe, I see that you narrowed it by cutting and moving the one side in. Are you sure that the rear wheel will still run in the center of the bike and not to one side? :headscratch:

Can you mock the whole thing up with the frame, swing arm, and wheel to see how everything lines up?

Brian

hi brian .....yes you are right it is all one side shorening ...this is cause the output shaft on motor is the fixed spot that can not change .... i havnt mock all things together as i dont have everything yet ....im on the road ..but i think it will all work out good as i i really went over things ...im sure off set if any is very small

Joe, it is so good to see you on CGW again...we've missed you. :clapping: :music2:

The single sided swing arm will be a huge mod for oldwings. To be able to take the back wheel off just like on your car will be awesome. If anyone can make it work it is you. I will be following along for sure.

Safe journey
Brian

This has to be the ONE major modification that would bring the Old Wing into the 21 st century, why Honda never did it I have no idea. But I can tell you one thing I will keep my old frame now and will use it as a "buck" for doing this mod, I have my old Dutch FRame and the swinging arm off that one to play with. :salute:

well i must admit this is stretching the limits of modifying to fit .....1800 has two driveshafts dont have the second one to the motor yet ...and dont even know if the output splines are the same hook up.......plus the welding on alumi is something that i cant do and have to pay for...the final drive gearing being 275 witch is lower than 1200-1500 gearing at 283 makes this a really tall gearing set up.....mostly 83 1100 motors and the 1200 motors are the best canidates to use this final drive ratio.....but yes i want one .....its never been done yet as far as i know and seems it would make a super road bike to travel with a 1200 weber powered c5 equiped machine....cant wait to get it all going ...the hooch bike is flat out proving the reliability of the motor set up
