I was riding the other day and the "rear suspension" warning light came on. I put the bike up on the center stand and tried to air up the rear suspension but it will not hold air other than for a few minutes.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I should start looking for leaks? Seems to me the biggest problem is isolating the problem. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forums.

I would remove the seat then with a spray bottle filled with soap and water spray the air lines and fittings. Hopefully it's a leak in one of the 2 lines. If none there then the shock seals could be bad.

hello and welcome to CGWF wbhick. check the valve itself. my niece has an 82 naked wing, it was doing the same as yours and getting worse. i aired it up and checked. 35# showing, recheck 15# showing, recheck and no pressure. so i air it up and get a reading of 38# and tell her to go to a tire shop and have the valve replaced. they replace the core and put 25psi in and she comes back and i bring it up to 36psi. problem solved

A leak that bad should be audible, I would think. You should be able to hear it leaking, if you have a quiet place to go to, and air the shocks up.
As Dan says, a spray water bottle will help narrow it down.
