Hi Waynester, welcome from Southern California! I'm not familiar enough with the 1200 systems, but there are plenty here who know them well. I would suggest you start a new thread in the 1200 subforum of the Shop Talk & References section (https://www.classicgoldwings.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=24 and click the "New Topic" button), and give any and all information you can - has any work been done on the bike, has it been sitting long, when did the problem start... We'll get it figured out with you!

:smilie_happy: Just bought this bike not running now it run great but????/i KNOW MUST BE SOMETHING SIMPLE ??? Runs great for 10 mins untill it gets up to temp then just dies and no spark ...anyone have a clue ? thank's Waynester

oh boy .. sounds like 1200 iggy problem ..probably that dam black box .. they dont make anymore... sheesh .... backlander is the great 1200 guy here he will chime in soon i hope for you

not injected gas cap clear choke off 10min, no spark etc ... have been working on bikes for many years but ofcorse this ones mine ...

They had a problem with the pickup coils at the crankshaft, under the timing belt covers. They would get hot and quit working - not sure if they would work after cooling down. I think someone installed a set from a 1500 with very little modification. I don't remember if it was here or on the Saunders site...

Interesting problem. Here are some things you can do to help narrow down the problem area. Photos of pictures are in order of the way to do them. Happy hunting and let us know what readings you get. Highly unusual for both pulse generators or both coils to go out at the same time which leads me to believe that it may to loosing the coil ground up on the front of the frame. Honda switches the ground on the electronics to turn things on and off so you could also have problems with the kill switch or the starter button. I would do these checks when it refuses to start with no spark.

Switch gear does make sense, maybe bypass ignition/ coil circuit with a relay.
