1987 gl1200 lifter knock

I have a 1987 gl1200 I replace the water pump ,Head gaskets and Timing belts when I was waiting for parts I took head to work and clean them by blasting then with bake soda [ No Grit to get in everywhere] now I have a lifter knocking so will it pump up by itself or do I have to remove lifter and pump it up in a pan of kerosene as per manuel

I believe the lifters will pump up on their own. At least the one 1200 I worked on did.
It did take some time running to quiet down, maybe 30 minutes or so.
