what apple maybe that ignition came loose again ...i think that the rotation seems to apply loosening force ... idont think that i didnt tighten that bolt i think i didnt tighten it enough

Naw fellers...I'm fairly certain the belt(s) jumped. It spins rather quickly, and it belches out the intake(air cleaner), and farts out the tailpipe....I'm just totally disgusted with it right now. Got a wrecker to haul it back to the house, jumped in the Cad, and came on to werk...only 3 hours late. I KNEW I shouldn't-a let youse guys talk me into changing the belts...it's all YOUR fault! :sensored:
:smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: just kiddin
Damn thing was running GREAT, too...even better than last night. I got into stop/go traffic, and I think the on/off the throttle twisted the belts enough to jump...I prolly dint get the tensioners set just right. Son of a bitch just quit...no notice or nuttin...just dead. I rolled to the side, and tried cranking. It just farts and belches, so I know the ignition is working...
I REALLY do NOT want to pull the damn heads...got no-place around here that works on 'Wings. I can change the valves, if that's all thats hurt. But then....where to find new valves?
I don't wanna turn this into a tech thread...just trying to vent a little....I'm so f-ing mad at myself...I shoulda checked the tensioners after I finally got it running last nite, BEFORE I put the belt covers back on. I checked the timing, but not the tension on the belts. :Doh2:

I do have an idea about checking the timing, tho. Once I get the belt covers off, Imma gunna drill some holes in the ends by the timing marks, so I can see them without taking the covers off...that way I can check it anytime I want. I'll plug the holes with rubber plugs....

Anyway....just blowin off some steam here...had one Hardly rider stop to check on me, 2 or three cagers, and....a couple of Cops...apparently, someone called the cops, and told them I was just standing there on the road...cops thought I was runnin out into traffic or something, from what the person that called told them....*********.... :whip:

rats apple ....sounds to me like you might be ok ....if it spins freely ...its souds like it broke the beltand away from crank ...the head in a nuetral possitions all valves closed ...that happen to me once nothing was hurt ...retimed it and rode ...might be luckly here

might have just jumped a few theeth and belt still on ...thats what mine did ...with it backfiring the belt might still be on ...i woulnt spin it anymore

Sorry to hear it Joel.

Honestly (please read this as a friend to a friend) I kinda expected you rushed through the job especially after forgetting that bolt.
I always get into trouble when I rush.

Hopefully it IS just that bolt came loose.
Loctite is good stuff worth using.

ME? RUSH?! Have you MET me? :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:
I know...thass why I said I wuz mad at meself.
Joe..if the belt came loose/jumped, doesn't that always mean at least a couple of the valves hit the pistons? I don't think it broke...I think it jumped.
Anyway...I'll add all this crybaby crap to the Stator thread.... :crying:

Why YES...yes it was! At least the battery was fully charged while I was sitting there cranking on it! :smilie_happy:
One step forward....10 steps back.
I may try to sweet-talk Mama into buying another bike....but, shhhhh, don't tell her.... :smilie_happy:
