The switched ground is then sent to the starter.

Otay....I'm an idjit.....you'll git no arguments there, BUT.....I'm pretty dang sure the solenoid sends 12v POS to the starter, not ground. :hihihi:
 
im an idiot too ..im dont really know how something is set up till it gives me problems ...then i will know ...and after i fix it i soon forget everything again ... :whistling: :headscratch: :hihihi:
 
I was wrong there too!

The starter is also fed a hot directly from the battery when the solenoid operates and then grounds into the engine.

Now I have no idea how that is further switched on yer new fangled '83 models. But heh! That's how mine works.
