I've been a member here for awhile, but never made a post.

I've rebuilt a 77 and am working on an 83 GL1100. Searching for a service manual for crank and rod bearing information,

Thanks
Jim

Good of you to finally join us Jim. Are you doing a full rebuild on your 83?

Yeah, rescued out of a field!

In it's present state of disrepair. Trial fitting a 78 shelter and darkwing seat

With the rusty/crusty flywheel I split the case to take a look around. I had another 83 engine with bad cylinder bores, but a decent crank & flywheel. The "plan" is to use the best parts of 2 engines and combine to make 1 good one.

Great plan! Dan is doing much the same with one of his motors. While you have the frame stripped down check it over for any bad rust spots. Lately I've read of some badly rusted removable frame sections. Keep us all up to date on your progress. We love big and small projects.
