I have been having problems with my turn signals. The right stays continuously on. Retired Honda mechanic looked at it and said it was a problem at the self canceling unit. Took fairing and forks off the bike today. I have a used turn signal canceling unit for replacement. I can not find where the 3wires come out. The new one has a white, black, and green/white wire about 2 inches long with factory male connections.
I can not find this connection on the bike. Took the 3 screws off the unit/bike. I can not pull it off the bike because the 2 inch wire is to tight. The other piece that came with this replacement is about 2 feet long. It has a plastic boot/cap at the male factory connection. At the other end of this 2 foot wire is female connection .

I do not see either end of these connections on my bike.

Can anyone point me in the correct direction of where either of these connections exist???

My computer is in the shop so I can't post pic.

Any help words or pic would be greatly appreciated

Yes the 83 wings have self canceling turn signals.

And then they went away from them in 84... or maybe just not on the Standard.

The turn angle sensor mounts at the bottom of the steering stem, with the pivoting arm attached to the frame. The 3 wires pass up through the stem, exiting under the handlebars, and secured with a rubber boot. They then attach into the main harness behind the headlight with all those other connectors. The colors should match wires in the harness.

The electronic cancelling unit (little black box) is under the top cover, near the regulator, and plugs directly into the main harness there.

Hope this helps...

 uhhh umm Brian? My 84 standard has self cancel. I wouldn't miss it if it quit really but it worked last time I rode it.

I have no computer presently_so I can't post pics.
I will use Steve's reply to search for the connection in the morn.
If I still can not find it I will get a pic posted somehow.

If my signals worked I would not care if the cancel worked or not.
But I need to find my gremlin one way or the other.

If you disconnect the separate 2 wires from the left handlebar switch into the fairing counterweight the indicators will work manually, you turn them on, you turn them off.

I happen to have a 82 with an 83 wiring harness, go figure!!

Thanks to dave0430 for the fix about 2 years ago.
