I couldn't believe my own eyes. Look what I found inside my air box. I thought they wasn't suppose to sell but 10% ethanol blend gasoline. :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

often replacing the needle & seat with float bowell gasket on carb's will take care of leakey carb's. sort of like the bad flapper valve on your toilet leaking.easy fix

I think you meant to say and float bowl gasket?

Generally most aftermarket needles and seats are said to be inferior quality so I believe it's best to reuse the original (Honda) parts if possible.
Ideally Honda original parts would be best here.

Maybe others here could elaborate on the best way to judge if a needle or seat needs to be replaced?

old needle and seats can useally be made to work good ...personaly ive never bought one but have fixed a few ....seems to me cleaning them and the screen useally fixes leaking there in my experience ...its the grunge that makes them leak ...its hard for them to bad unless they just get eat up ...ive never had one that bad ...but im sure there are some that are

Whut chu bin duwin up yonder, anyhows? By golly I thanks thass aboot the bestest place I ever done seed tuh hide a still!!! Dadburn Revenuers won't NEVER look down in thar! :hihihi:

grunge is definantly a problem any where. a small particle of any thing will cause the needle to leak.just like your toilet flapper will leak water with the presence of any dirt on the sealing surface. sometimes a grove is worn into needle causing carb to seep fuel.cleanliness is PARAMONT with any surgery! i have had good luck with K&L Supply, for needle & seat with float bowel gasket's,installed AFTER cleaning of course.please excuse, my spelling is not as good as my work on motorbikes

Worked on the carbs today, jumped on #4 since it was under suspect of leaking from the fuel inlet hose connection or somewhere else. I put new lines and clamps on last year but you never know. This is what the underside looked like

When I took them apart I noticed how loose the fuel transfer tube was an when removed I saw that the orings had shrunk or else where the wrong size on the #4 carb end of the tube which was causing the drip.
fuel tube oring failure #4 carb.jpg
All the pilot jet plugs had been removed and oring for #4 pilot jet was missing. All the intake orings have got to be replaced. The inside, jets, seats, slide are clear and look like new. That ATF really works. This pic is right after taking the cover off.

what a great plug for atf ...I'm telling ya ....if one gets their bike running good ...iggy and carbs and heads and cooling system working good atf will keep it there for yrs and yrs ....cleaning all the time also raising the burn factor on the fuel for complete burn and out the exhaust ....and the motor stays clean as the residue glazing that goes on slowly but steadily make the motor poorer and poorer from build up of unburnt or poorly 1/2 burnt fuel that never gets out the exhaust ...

Who do you believe, :head bang: or do you just keep what you have if it has no issues, runs like a scalded ape, idles and wants to pull your arms out of socket when you gas it.
Here's the situation: I got #105 main jets instead of #108. I got #40 slow jet instead of #35. The float level is set at 5mm instead of 7.5 mm and the pilot screws are set for high altitude and I live at 130 feet above sea level. The only thing keeping alligators out of my yard is east/west bound I-20 across north Louisiana. :smilie_happy:

I don't understand :headscratch: why the high altitude setting as I bought the bike in Little Rock, Ar where the altitude is 1500 feet. I don't understand the jet changes either. Anyone have any thoughts as to why and it's not hurting anything that I can find by it being this way and I've been running it two years. These are VD 53 C Keihn 30mm carbs with accelerator pump.
