This problem is not math at all....

This is pretty simple if you know what to look for...
The numbers 6,8,9, and 0 all have loops in them. You are just counting the number of loops in each sequence.

For example 6690 has 4, but 8875 has 4 as well. The 8 has 2 itself.

..I think you used Google Dan... :hihihi: ..I looked at it forever, and being a visual math solver most of the time....I never understood what they were doing anyways. I was lost... :smilie_happy: ..who ever heard of counting loops in school... :shock:..but that's what they are doing.
