Decided I needed a second helmet. Picked up an AGV carbon fibre modular. Very lite, and was on sale 30% off, $670.00 CDN taxes in. Looking for a Sena communicator for this one as the Sena for the Shoei is not portable.

The discussion I had with the parts fellow is that it will not be as quiet as the Shoei helmet, and the AGV helmet is lighter but the Shoei makes up for this in being very well balanced. Came with a pinlock, and the liner is reversible for winter use. The XL that fit the same was $100.00 more.

As far as helmet noise goes, everything I've seen suggests that if you dislike tinnitus, you need earplugs.

Doesn't matter the brand, the noise levels are high enough at highway speeds to cause hearing damage.

I wear earplugs anytime im on interstate or highway over 60, and often slower, partcularly when bugs, bees, or high wind appears... how well would the SENA project through a set of typical foamie earplugs?

I have the Sena SMH5 set in an HJC SymaxII. I wear very soft foam plugs and can hear the wife or phone just fine.

Hmmm... will the SMH5 drive hard enough to be audible through earplugs strong enough to NOT hear my wife?? :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

I didn't know they made plugs that strong. Bone transmission and all.

My cheapo headset is loud enough for foam plugs. If the expensive headsets aren't expensive enough, that's rather sad.
