Air Filter Type

I took apart my air canister and found a UNI Air Filter in there. Are those a good type? Seems to be oiled with a K & N type oil.

Also, going to replace spark plugs. I assume the standard NGK DPR8EIX-9 is still the best?

How often do you guys change your plugs on the GL1200?

I think many run them ,If I recall the K&N is better filtering I prefer the paper to either.
