Hello,
I just bought this bike 2 weeks ago. It was in storage for 3 years. I had to bleed the clutch and the air suspension pressure was zero. The bike is a 1985 Interstate so it has air suspension but no compressor. I filled the rear shocks to 40 psi and the front to 6 psi. Went out for a ride and found it sloppy. Hitting the bumps really hard and felt like the front shock were bottoming out. Today I added more air, 55 psi in the rear and 10 psi in the front. Reading the manual it states not to exceed 6 psi in the front shocks, but i notice a much better ride at 10 psi.
My concern os that I will cause damage to the front shocks because of over inflation, however I have seen some posts of member running the fronts at 14 psi.
Any thoughts or ideas would be very much appreciated as this is my first Gold wing, a dream 32 years in the making.

Thank you
Bob

Have a great day
Ride safe

I have been looking at progressive springs
I will be putting it away next month to start my dismantling and cleaning, I want it really nice for next spring.
Thinking of changing fork springs and fork fluid at that point.
What do you think of progressive springs?

Thank's

I have progressive springs and shocks on both of my wings and I'm glad I made the switch

From what I have read, I would only have to remove the front shock caps and drain the oil, take out the old springs, replace them with progressive and install new oil to measurement found in the manual, then air them up to 6psi. I am satisfied with the rear suspension but would it be advisable to replace the two rear shocks as well and if so why?
Would i not be able to run progressive suspension in the front with stock suspension in the rear?
Excuse my ignorance but this is my first Goldwing. :thanks:

New can be ordered direct from Progressive I think as well as a host of retailers and Ebay sellers. I generally search ebay first for whatever I'm looking for.

Good idea to disassemble the front end to check bushings, piston rings,2 on each side,O ring in bottom of each fork, for wear.As well check steering bearings for wear,& adjustment. New springs, dampers in shocks, as well as seals & boots, will work wonders with new springs & any worn front end parts to make the suspension better than new!!!
