American Made?

A member emailed this to me and I think it should be posted here because Hondas are were Made In America.

A physics teacher in high school, once told the students that while one grasshopper on the railroad tracks wouldn't slow a train very much, a billion of them would. With that thought in mind, read the following, obviously written by a good American...

Good idea... one light bulb at a time...

Check this out. I can verify this because I was in Lowes the other day for some reason and just for the heck of it I was looking at the hose attachments... They were all made in China . The next day I was in Ace Hardware and just for the heck of it I checked the hose attachments there. They were made in USA . Start looking...

In our current economic situation, every little thing we buy or do affects someone else - even their job ... So, after reading this email, I think this lady is on the right track. Let's get behind her!

My grandson likes Hershey's candy. I noticed, though, that it is marked made in Mexico now. I do not buy it any more.

My favorite toothpaste Colgate is made in Mexico .... now I have switched to Crest. You have to read the labels on everything...

This past weekend I was at Kroger... I needed 60 W light bulbs and Bounce dryer sheets. I was in the light bulb aisle, and right next to the GE brand I normally buy was an off-brand labeled, "Everyday Value." I picked up both types of bulbs and compared the stats - they were the same except for the price...

The GE bulbs were more money than the Everyday Value brand but the thing that surprised me the most was the fact that GE was made in MEXICO and the Everyday Value brand was made in - get ready for this - the USA in a company in Cleveland , Ohio .

So throw out the myth that you cannot find products you use every day that are made right here...

So on to another aisle - Bounce Dryer Sheets.... yep, you guessed it, Bounce cost more money and is made in Canada ... The Everyday Value brand was less money and MADE IN THE USA! I did laundry yesterday and the dryer sheets performed just like the Bounce Free I have been using for years and at almost half the price!

My challenge to you is to start reading the labels when you shop for everyday things and see what you can find that is made in the USA - the job you save may be your own or your neighbors!

I'll have to start looking. It's getting even harder. Sometimes the "Made In USA" printed on the box only means the box was made in USA. The item inside came from whoknowswhere.
Even the Snap-On tools I buy off the truck are mostly made in China now days. I don't think Snap-On even makes an air tool here anymore.

I already have 2 American made Chevy's both I bought new.

Gonna have to last me awhile. I just made the last payment on the service van WooHoo!

I'll never forget 1978. My Dad (who was the President of a local Carpenters Union in Philadelphia) was determined to support USA jobs and buy American Made and "Made in The USA" only products. As such, he bought a brand new 1978 Ford Fairmont as proud as could be to support our fellow American jobs! :clapping:


But then he noticed the sticker on the inside of the door panel and it said "Made In Canada"! Now, he had nothing against our Canadian brothers, but was very disappointed that he could not count on buying what seemed like and had been advertised as an American made car. Of course his assumption was that it was "Made in The USA". He just didn't realize that Ford considered Mexico and Canada to be included in the "Made in America" label.

I hear ya Gerry, pretty hard to find anything EVEN WHAT YOU EXPECT to be made in America as made elsewhere.
But anyway, I think it's better to buy a Chevy or Ford or even Toyota now over most of the others.

Technically, "Made in America" is not the same as "Made in USA". Made in America doesn't really specify North or South America, soooooo.....
It's the "Made in USA" that should be the tell-tale. k:

You want American made? Make it yourself! My house is. I built it with my father and uncle. My carport is. Manufactured in Texas and assembled here by a couple North Carolina mexicans. :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

Most everything I own was made in the USA , ( By ME ) ......either Made it , or REmade it. :smilie_happy:

I don't think you can buy a Televison that's still made in the USA..I may be wrong.. :grin:Got 3 GM vehicles and a Japanise Bike made in Ohio in think..

I think pretty much all my Japanese bikes were all made in the US. My Subaru was made in Indiana. My ford Ranger was remade here, salvage title :smilie_happy:
