Another airbox question

I removed the airbox to do some coil troubleshooting (that's another subject) and found a semi-gasket between the airbox and the metal intake below- it was real ragged and was made out of something that looked like thin filter material- definately not stock. Should there be any kind of gasket between the plastic airbox and the engine? Thanks.

Yes, there is normally a rubber gasket that seals the airbox and the intake.

The gasket is number 7 which is discontinued.
