Hi, all:

I bought a 1981 GW Interstate last week for $600. Runs great! So far, I know I need paint, a new seat, windshield. and rear tire. I also need to adjust the valves, replace a few screws, synch the carbs, and add air to the suspension.

I also need to install a personal air conditioner. This in-town riding in 105 degrees (summer in Florida) bites big-time! :smilie_happy:

Jim, welcome to the site from New Jersey! :clapping:

I always heard that Florida trys to melt Goldwings! My daughter is in Fort Lauderdale and she says even the alligators are requesting air conditioning! :smilie_happy:

Post some pics of your bike and list the running condition and we will be able to help ya!

Welcome aboard from the east side of nowhere in the buckeye state. Great price! Let's see this diamond in the rough.

Since I joined this AM, I also discovered that the rear shocks will not hold air. Not yet sure from whence it is leaking.

Get a spray bottle with soapy water, air up the shocks to max and spray down the shock s ,hoses and all connections. Bubbles will be evident at leak site. spray every inch of breaking system, remember these systems are 30 + years old anything can leak at that age....I should know I am 71 and I leak all the time :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

Welcome Jim. When your ready just post your questions in the appropriate forum. After 5 posts in any forum/thread you get access to our manuals and tech stuff.

BTW, only paid $600 for my old girlfriend. :rocks:

Welcome, I too have a 81 and I love it, absolutely love it, yours looks in way better shape then mine did when I got mine. I found parts where I could, online and salvage yards etc..The heat will break soon and then the rain will fall again..
