Anybody Changed Factory Stereo for later one in the same hole ?

my Stereo works ( kinda ) has a CB in it too , but ... neither one is real good. I'd like to put a newer version off the shelf model in it . any Ideas ???

I think it was Steve83 that put one in the gauge cluster with enough room for the volt guage, also I have seen an adaptor that screws to the stock radio opening that allows a 2 shaft type radio but they don't seem to come up too often but it seems to me IF the stock opening is big enough for a 2 shaft type radio a plate could be cut to fit and a slide in type new style radio could be used. I think I bought the black plastic textured sheet of material to do just that at home depot some 15 years ago for a custom install.

+1 on late model instal using blank surround material for professional finish. If memory serves me I think Steve shortened the case of his..

The black textured ABS can be bought from WW Grainger, Thats what I used on mine.
