Guys I need some help...today i started polishing bits and pieces while I wait for my electostatic cleaner and my frame to come back....anyways I was polishing one of the carb tops (CV housing) on my bench polishing unit aka bench grinder with polishing wheel. All was going swimmingly well..got both belt covers done and the left rocker cover done..sweet...i'll start on the carbs...all going weel then the cv housing flicked out of my hands and bounced off back wall around my workshop and finally the floor...on inspection I couldnt see anything wrong so continued polishing and finished...looking good a pleased with the effort I proceeded to put it back on the carb...to find its fractionally out of round...ever so fractionally that it will go on the piston but is tight so the piston wont slide in it..so Im really annoyed at myself at present...
So if anyone has the cv housing and piston... parts list -list it as piston set, Vacuum. Shown as No8 in diagram.
If anyone can help me pm me...Pleeeease... :crying: :crying: :crying:

I had exactly the same thing happen to me. I used my cheap Harbor Freight digital caliper micrometer to measure the inside diameter of the cap at several angles to see how out-of-round it was. Then I used a large pair of channel lock pliers with rubber pads to squeeze the cap back into roundness. It took several attempts, but I got the piston to move freely in it. If you can't find another cap, this is a last resort fix.

I put padding all around the polisher after this happened.

Good luck with yours!

Thanks Steve...been searching all night...gave up..went to bed..woke thought im gonna check ebay again...found brand spanking new one...still in packaging..$20US plus $25 shipping...yup shipping costs more than item...but gonna cost me approx $65 aussie...and thats a win to me.
I also went to Goldwing.NL, so far the best site yet ive seen for GL spares. They wanted more for a used one than I paid with shipping for the one of ebay.

Glad Im not the only one that has had this problem  Funny that you mentioned the padding around the polisher...had the very same thought myself this morning.. :good:
I wont be binning the part though...ill be attempting to get it ok again

Glad you found one. Is it the entire kit, or only the cap?
Entire kit... Honda only sold them as complete...
