Took a quick trip to kentucky with a few friends last week to beat the winter blues and sneak in a little riding.
After studying the national weather last monday night we settled on Bowling Green Kentucky.Mid 40s wednesday mid 50s thursday.
We trailored four bikes down tuesday,My CB500 cafe,a CM200 Twinstar a XS360 and a 250 ninja. These smaller bikes worked out well in the cramped trailor and we didnt figure we needed the big touring/sport touring bikes for a couple mear 200+ mile days.We road wenesday and thursday, then headed back home friday.

We left the hotel (near the corvette plant and museum) and headed straight into the sticks first stopping at a cheese maker for a great lesson on cheese making.
From there kenny (the cheese maker) directed us to Fountain Run to ANNS OLD MILL RESTERAUNT for a excellant and way to cheap lunch. Then ann directed us on a great scenic ride to Gold City where we partook in an RC cola and a moon pie for an afternoon snack before zig zagging back to the hotel just as the sun went down.

Thursdays ride was just as nice, dipping into tennesee to Cherry Grocery.

These where some of the most awsome roads Ive ever riden.Narrow twisty hilly roads with great views. The locals had a hard time understanding why we wouldnt prefer the faster more gradual roads, but ablidge us with great direction non the less. The average speed on these roads was about 40 and we seldom ever saw another vehicle.

I must add that ANNS OLD MILL RESTUARANT in Fountain Run Kentucky is a hiden treasure with awsome home cooking, great conversation and super low prices.

It was great joe,and every road is paved no matter how narrow and irelivent it is.
Everything from rock ledges to never ending views of rolling meadows and alot of rivers and streams.

I can think of no better way to beat the winter blues!

Nice bikes ya got there.

Oddley enough we all have multiple bikes to choose from and these little guys may even be considered the least reliable of them all,(except the ninja, his others where allready in storage)shoot that little twinstar was dragged out of a tool shed after 20 years and only running for about 20 miles prior, yet no mechanical trouble at all.Its amazing.

The main reason is that one of the guys has resieved some unexpected bad news reguarding his health and we are afraid he may not get another chance to get this ride in,so we rushed it together.Unfortunitly funding and vacation time wise it may mean I miss the ontario meet this year.

Sorry to hear about your bud and sorry you might not make the Canada ride but I understand. Stuff happens.

We are however trying to plan 2 meets, one in the U.S. Maybe we could make it closer to your part of the country, I would like to meet you.

There are some super nice touring roads in that area, for sure! Love that part of the country....wish I could'a been there. Looks like ya'll had a great time, all thing considered!

I rode those roads all thru Kentucky everywhere I could go, nice riding their...I know what you guy's experienced...Most awesome scenery...

Yes,great roads and a great time.
Dan,I may still make a meet and greet.Would like to meet you and others, just not to sure I will be ready for a border crossing.

Yeah the whole border crossing thing is a problem for a lot of us, myself included.

The twinstar might suprise you guys cause I've heard that it is a very reliable little fella.Same as the honda cg125.Sorry to hear about your buddy, best of lucks.great post by way :rocks:

Yes,That twinstar is impressive. It sat for twenty years in an old shed up untell last summer,he rebuilt the carb and replaced the tank just in time and kept his fingers crossed,it did not disapoint.Very good running bike.
But the bike that impressed me the most was the 250 ninja. Not a super bike but very quick for its little moter and 65 mpg.You had to get used to the high revs and high power band but still a very smooth refined machine.Unbelievable that Kawasaki could build such a fine machine and sell it so cheap!
Sometimes the funnest part of this little trips is the bike swapping.

The friend is doing fine for know, thanks for inquiring, but will begin recieving an "expiramental treatment" at U of M next week. It will be a rough month for him and time will tell after that.We will just keep praying and hoping.

Had a white, red seat 250 ninja around early nineties think it was a 87.Nice fast little bike. Not good for two up thou.My wife would get tired on rides and lean on me a bit and my wrist would get all the beating :smilie_happy: .Oh now that I recall the idle wouldn't stay steady would go up and down by 100 rpms or so.Took it twice to a powersport place and never could get it done right.Didn't want to do it myself at that time since it wasn't that bad.Had low miles bought it from a dad that didn't want her teenage girl to ride anymore. Here friends have taken all the plastics apart and needed both tires, battery and to be put back together. All in all a nice riding bike after almost two years sold it and hit a 89 gsxr1100....know that was a nice jump in ponys
