Biker down hard this am.

Literally feet from where I work a biker was hit by a left turn diver. I got there seconds after the accident, and as I walked up someone told me the driver ran and turned onto a dead end near the intersection. I rode down there and found the car and called 911. The biker was alive but I just heard on the news he is critical.

No excuse ever for hit and run and I hope they nail his ass hard, but I always wonder about the riders conduct and how fast he was going. Statistically here in L.A they say that many bike wrecks could have been avoided if they were going the speed limit or at least not faster than the flow of traffic.

Two summers ago, at an intersection down the street from me there is a traffic signal. Early on a Saturday morning, a biker was turning left at the light which was green. From the right hand side, an SUV ran the red light and ran the bike and biker over. He did not make it. The driver stopped, but told the LEO's that it was not their fault. There was a morning sun glare and they never even saw the red light let alone the biker.

It never dawned on them that they might have approached the intersection with caution and stopped if they COULD NOT SEE!! :evil: :crying:

An actual witness said he heard a woman scream when the bike hit her car. Here the problem is 24/7 shift workers that are tired and drunks from the casinos mixing in a bad way on our roads.

I'm trying not to think too much about how that could have been me.

Probably drunk, uninsured, with a suspended drivers license, &did not want to face the music. :rant: Hope their caught, victim recovers, & gets wealthy in the process. :yes:

Hit in Run in Nevada now comes with a mandatory 2 years in prison. With all the illegals and tourists it became a real problem.

I'm still really stoked I found the car, been walkin on air all day.
