I know that DOT 3 was originally used in my '76 Wing.
But I have a friend who claims that the best thing he
ever did was change to DOT5 because it is not hygroscopic.
I've heard that the two are totally NOT compatible.
Can the '76 use DOT5 if the system is completely
flushed first?
...and what would I flush it with?

Thanks guys.

That would be best answered by the makers of DOT5 as to whether it could harm any of the system. On the subject of flushing they are also probably the best to ask but I'm guessing if you drain the system and flush with DOT5 then refill. That should be enough. DOT4 will play nice with DOT3.
