Bike turned off in ffood drive through. Only clicks when starter buttoned pressed at box type 30amp fuses just above dog bone next to battery. Battery is agm couple years old. I get 12 when I put the meter on it. Drops to 6/7 when starter pressed. Dog bone okay as are ignition fuses on other side. Bike is in neutral key in correct position.

hmmmmmm sounds like an hopefully battery as its easy to to replace ...but could be many things really...try a known. good battery ...battery could be shorting out ...could be low in fluid ...even agm need fluid and are not really sealed for life ....mine has caps the can be worked off and water put in

I agree,
with that kind of large voltage drop to me would indicate a dead cell in the battery.

While you are changing the battery check the wiring connections. They can kill alternators as easily as a stator.

There are two type of agm (absorbed glass mat) batteries, one is flooded, the other is Gelled, also most aren't deep cycle batteries because of plate thickness. The Gelled agm's have had some problems but I understand are getting much better. If you have a flooded AGM you should never add water to it, or removed the caps, actually I believe most don't have removable caps.

The nice thing about AGM is you don't get the hydrogen gas off of them like you do on lead acid batteries. One thing we noticed in our shop was when a AGM goes south, it does quickly. Also AGM's are almost immune to vibration because of how tightly they are packed.

There are filled batteries they call "maintenance free" which don't have removable caps, there are some knock offs with AGM on their label which are not AGM. Have to watch close the gimmicks and scams out there.

It was the battery, alt is charging fine according to my volt meter. Terminal connections are clean/dry. I went to work after this where my $$$cellphone was promptly stolen... Came home and am staying inside to avoid being killed by an asteroid or something worse. :head bang:

~O~

Luck wasn't all bad. The charging system is fine and the bike is working. Cell provider should be able to ping the location of the cell phone. Maybe the local constable will be nice enough to retrieve it?

Sorry about your day Randy, glad it was only a faulty battery.
