:help: So here's the deal....I have a ton of video that I want to put on a DVD, so it will play in a DVD player, not just on a computer. I have "Windows DVD Maker", but it ain't workin. It gets to about 98% done, and I get an error message. Doesn't matter if I try one vid, or 10. The vids I have are .wmv or .avi files. Is there a way to do this, or am I just screwed? Is there some other kind of "converter" program I need to convert these to a different file? :headscratch:

oh...and remember...I'm just a dum ol mek-a-nek...gotta keep it simple....and in English.... :smilie_happy:

The only converter program I have now will do these types...

i think it needs converted to a different format to work on the home dvd player. i've no idea which just now. Might try a search at downloads.com?

The format I have been using is MP4 for DVD's. I have digital software that came with my camera that converts for me. I also have a VHS to DVD burner that sets up in MP4 for the DVD.

:head bang:  :Awe:
The files ARE MP4 files to start with, but they won't play with the Windows media player...so I converted them to .wvm and/or .avi....
I'll try a couple of the ones I haven't converted, and see how that works.... :thanks:

Otay...so which AVS product would I need? I don't see anything that will work with with a .wvm file.... :headscratch:

Otay....so Windows Vid maker don't play nice with .mp4 files, either. :sensored: I discovered that some of the older vids I have used a .mpg file, so I tried that...and it works. Transfers to DVD and play just fine. I am now converting a few more vids to .mpg files, and see if I can get this friggin job done a little at a time. I did make copies of all of the vids before converting them, just in case, so I'll still have the original files. Yeeesh...what did I get meself into? :Doh2: :Doh2:

I had the same issue.
I think Movie Maker consists of two parts. Movie making and DVD burning.
I had to use Windows Movie Maker to generate avi/wmv files then use the DVD burning part.
Avi/wmv files generated by other apps makes DVD burning fail it seems. So annoying!
