I have a full pelt from alaska leather that I used to use on longer rides with my stock seat.But last year I bought a saddleman roadsofa with the gel made into the seat.I dont really use the pelt anymore.It did help but the new seat is better.
I think if I had to go back I would try a Butt Buffer rather than the pelt.They seem to act like gel with out the added thickness.

FYI; Under Armor breifs(or equilvant) are a godsend though.

i have a gelpad because my seat is too low. the 3/4 inch it raises me up helps get the kink out my legs

I use a sheepskin piece sometimes now for longer rides or touring and I had a seat on a Honda XR650L once that I installed a gell insert in. I ended up getting a Corbin seat for the XR and that was great...

I think the best fix is a good brand aftermarket seat but at the moment I don't want to spend the money and have settled for a standard Saddleman seat with a Thermo-rest small seat pad on it...I also have a pair of LD Comfort underpants that I wear on long tours...Yeeeessssss!

Question on the sheepskin, does it have to be the good quality (real) sheepskin or does the imitation work as well.

I bought a real sheep skin at Sam's for only 34 bucks, it's very nice with about 3" of fleece. The only problem is, they were listed as a "seasonal item" around Christmas time and I doubt that they have them now.
I can't give a ride report because I haven't tried it out yet. One thing that concerns me is I get so much road film up around the sides of my seat that I'm afraid it will be filthy in very short order. :roll:

although I think I will add a gel pad for me as it will help raise me a bit more.. hopefully help my knees

we have saddleman dbl bucket, with full size sheep skin pelt... white with black tips... works great looks good, and doesnt show dirt.

I have the same thing, except mine is white, and I really like the combo. I am thinking about getting a pad to lift me up a bit more to relax my legs, but I have no problems with my butt hurting.

:clapping: :clapping: Great stuff guys one of my main concerns was is getting wet, I work 3rd shift so she will sit outside all nite and we get alot of dew in these parts even in the summer.

I put a thousand dollar seat on my VTX and I STILL use my Air HAwk. Buck for buck its tops in my book. I use it on the wing and it goes with you where ever. Two pennies.
