Hello from atlanta, My name is gene. just bought a 1980 GW up in wisconsin. flew up and rode back. My 1st GW. Im 58 and it took 48 hours What a trip. Any how , If you know of a oldwing mechanis in my neck of the woods, I could use an intro. I would like to have the bike gone over thourghly. I know I already messed up the rear air shocks.. thanks

Welcome aboard Gene. If you have the tools and will there's almost nothing these guys can't walk you through.

Welcome from Oz. checkout all the information here about your shocks. Good luck with your Oldwing :good:

Welcome Gene. I have an 80` myself. Bummer about the shocks but they can be rebuilt, I have heard Valkyrie shocks will work as well, I have to look further into that though.
Good luck with your bike.

Hi Gene, and welcome from Southern California! With a basic set of metric tools, and this forum, you can do most everything on these old bikes. Good luck with your "new" toy! If you made it from Wisconsin to Georgia, it sounds like it's in pretty decent shape!

If you aren't comfortable with wrenches (nothing wrong with that), you might call the folks at Traxxion in Woodstock. They specialize in motorcycle suspensions. They did my 1800. Don't know if they handle the older bikes, but hey are great folks, and I'm sure that they will pass on any info they have. Every fall, they host a BBQ and jazz band for us, and the last three years have had Aaron Twite performing stunts. Mad skills, but thinks WE are crazy for riding on the streets with traffic.

Welcome from Eastern NC! Fairly new here myself, these guys are pretty knowledgeable. If you know "righty tighty, lefty loosey" you can do most anything. My wing wouldn't have gone from the kitchen to the dining room. Now it'll make it around the block.
