hi,, any chance if i leave it sitting the gaskets will swell,,? had i know i would have not ran the gas out of it,, would have just started it once in a while,,, thing runs so good its not funny.

Mine does that if it sits for more than a couple of weeks. I have only one carb that will leak for a few minutes, and then it will seal up, and be fine as long as I start/ride it every day. The other 3 have never leaked. I really should pull the rack and take care of stuff like that, but.....I'm just too lazy.

one carb stopped leaking,, other,, not good,, . im going on ebay and looking for a rebuild kit.. probly just replace the bowl gaskets, or any gaskets that are for fuel,, . might buy a rack of the vaccumm gauges also.. mercury stick is not gettin it.... I don't mind the carb work,, its the getting them out part.

getting them out hasn't been a problem for me. I unhook the cables and lines then loosen the horn clamps then unbolt. Turn the horns to face each other on the right side then slide it out the left. This of course is assuming the air filter and box are removed and the lowers too.

ok, thanx,, i remember when i took them out once before i was skeptical they would even come out.. :Egyptian:
Somehow they would always suddenly fall into that magic spot where they almost eject themselves out.

I read of someone he loosened the front left engine support to gain a bit more room.
Never tried it myself but I think that would help.

Just remember to do the float needle and seat as that is where exta fuel can come from and end up in the engine if not seating properly

carb fun ...can i play .... sheesh i got to where i could have a stock rack out and another put on in less than 30 minutes till running again ....ahh glad those days are done for me ....

i agree i would just go to bad carb and try to get it to stop leaking ...got to be something rather easy.. :builder:

,, could have ordered bowl gaskets,,, like 20$,,, kinda wish thats what i had done,, but wanted the O rings,, (probly just look like its leaking on bottom,, because the bowl gaskets leaking),, . also thought about replacing the acclerator pumps,, because that seems like a logical place of possible leaking, because they are even with the top of the float bowl (looks like) ,,... which i could order individually,, idk,... hopefully Joe is right and they are not that big of a deal to get out..... maybe i will check how long it takes me,,... When they are out, i can clean and repaint the top of the engine,, i had a two tone 94 silverado, and used the silver,, near perfect match.

carbs are big deal stay focas on that .. paint is nice .. .. things really get involved here ...i dont want my post taken wrong ...first time i took carbs off i thought the world was going to end first ... then theres a whole science on putting carbs back on and sealing them good ... let alone you got the carb problem solved or not .....this is no small deal ... so that was my point about not going over everything try to pin point problem ...
