I was reading around about the idle drop procedure (which I have not done since the carbs were rebuilt in 2010). I noticed that there is a different starting point for turns out for the different model years. I have '81 carbs on an '83 engine. Does that make a difference??

Also, this is the first time that I have noticed that 3 of my pilot screw limiter caps are missing. Could this be a problem?? :swoon:

I stop adjusting before the idle drop. Procedure should be for the carb year not motor or bike if they differ. Limiter caps missing is most likely a po adjusting them.

Those limiters are just Hondas way of meeting pollution control when they were made.
After years of service and different gas now, I'd say they are worthless.
+1 and crack off or have been removed by POs or mechanics
