Carb synch. w/ bad muffler; should I try it

:help: My 81 Goldwing has a loud muffler; sounds like the baffle has rusted out. My question is this; can I accurately adjust my carbs with a vacuum guage with 1 bad muffler or do I need to replace/repair the exhaust system before I synch. the carbs? Any thoughts would be appreciated, Steve

muffler shouldn't affect carb synch.

I would expect a 2 muffler system that's not tied together like the 1100's with a crossover then there might be a slight difference in sync with and without a baffle, probably so slight at idle you couldn't measure it anyway.
