Hello, I just picked up a complete rack of carbs off an 83 Aspencade that was abandoned outside for about 10 years so you can get a picture of how nasty these things are. I was wondering if any of you know if the inexpensive ultrasonic cleaners would work on carbs? Some of them hold almost 2 liters and have tank dimensions that would cver at least 1 carb. Would the 83 carbs fit on my 81 Interstate? Thanks for your thoughts on this. You guys probably know this but I had occasion to use this trick today as some of the float bowl screw heads were damaged. Dippinng the end of a screwdriver in water-based valve grindind paste usually gives enough grip to remove those screws. Anyhow, thanks again, Steve.

The carbs will fit. Not certain how well the ultrasonic cleaner will work but a lot depends on the solution used too. Not sure if 83 carbs would perform better but clean and nice carbs are always better than old dirty ones.

It seems Honda started with a bit more leaning as the years moved on so the 83 carbs may burn leaner than 81.
Will run fine though. I have 83 carbs on my 81 engine.
I have '81 carbs on my '83 engine! Maybe we should swap??? :smilie_happy:
