I know that many have replaced the ageing dripping OEM epoxy with JB Weld or other types of simmilar epoxies. My question is that is there a need to refill the boxes. The boxes are up under the tank do not get wet. Is the new epoxy just for cosmetics?? Would the epoxy cause the electronics to run hotter. I can refill mine but I am inherently lazy and believe that "If it ain't broke don't fix it."

very good point ive got an 80yr bike where this is all melted out and it ran ...but it also had cracked coils and ran crummy ive never have taken it on the road ...stop and go traffic seems like it would be a problem maybe ...keep us informed how this dose ...

I have been running GL1500 coils for the last 3 months and they work great. My goo was dripping before the swap. The 1500 units are better and cheaper. No need to find coils from an 82-83. Hunt around there are some how to's out there that walk you through the process. Plug and play swap.

Tuna, just curious do they have or need an external resistor or was this just a bandaid that honda came up with till the 1500 coils?. sounds like a good swap.

If you send me a PM I will give you the info on the DIY site and you can read it for yourself and see what you think. I am very happy and the 1500 coils were $30/

Not a secret, not sure if talking about another Goldwing site while here might draw some flack.
Nah it's ok. Gathering knowledge is always welcome.
