I picked this up at Harbor Freight for $19 & change. I've been useing it for a few months now and it works great. I wish I would have grabbed 2 or 3 of them. It has an on/off switch and a high/low switch. The high setting will definately wake you from a good sleep. Mine lives on my night stand next to my bed. The transmitter takes 2 AA batteries and the reciever takes a 9v battery or optional AC power source (not included). The range from my bedroom to the bike tent is about 200+ feet through walls and works with no problem. Beware: There is no sensitivity adjustment, so cats and birds will set it off. But I don't seem to have this problem at night and I turn it off in the day, so....? I have the transmitter mounted about chest height so cats have lesser chance of setting it off. It covers the full legnth of my 20' tent.
We don't really see many problems where we live. But this gives me piece of mind. The bike tent is out front close to the street and my bedroom is on the other side of the house by the back yard. Anyways, it works for me and I thought I would share.

My garage door faces the alley where kids like to hang out on Friday and Saturday nights.
We've never had any trouble, well once the garage door got tagged like 10 years ago but that's been it.

I've been wanting some sort of alarm if the garage door were being pryed open, do you think this would work?

My bad, I stated AA batteries when it actually takes C batteries - and a 9v.

It's a IR motion sensor. I don't think it will see a "wiggle" on the door, but it will definately see a persons body temp. Probably best if you put it inside facing the door, or across the doorway, depending on how much area you wanted to cover. I have mine zip tied to a pole in my tent about chest high. It seems to cover the area pretty well. I'm confident that if somebody was mess'n with the bikes this thing will alert me. I do have survailence cameras, but they won't alert me of somebody out there right now.
