choke cable

Can a choke cable be put on with removing carbs on a 87 gl1200 interstate if so how? :thanks:

You have to remove the rack partway to access the choke cable bracket, remove the bracket, line up cable end and slid it out. The choke cable lever is mounted to the bottom of the air plenum (or chamber), then remove the handlebar end of cable, replace in reverse order. You have to remove the tank cover, lower and inner fairing covers and a few other misc. things to give the carbs room to slid over. If you have a Haynes manual it's page 4-5 and page 4-11. hmmm what a pain it seems for choke cable ....i need to put one on my 82 that has the 84 motor in it ...im glad its striped down already sheeesh
