the manual shows to use dot 4 brake fluid for the clutch on my 86 sei is that what we use all i have in my garage is dot 3.

Far as I know dot3 and 4 can be mixed but not 5.
Brake fluid absorbs moisture which causes corrosion so its a good idea to flush it good with fresh fluid.
I would do that then you know you have the same type fluid because you never know what a prior owner added or if its ever been flushed.

Go buy DOT4
dot4 has a higher boiling point than dot3. to me dot4 has a firmer feel at the lever than dot3
