clutch center holder?

My engine is out for stator replacement (done).
While it's out, I want to take a look at the clutch. The transition (slipping to full-engage) is a bit rough and it judders if I am not careful.

I made up a lock nut socket wrench out of steel stock (okay it only engages 2 out of 4 slots in the nut, but should work?)
The problem is the clutch center holder. I tried to use my "grab-it" tool to engage 2 of the clutch center webs but it slips. Plus I am not sure they (the webs) are strong enough. I cannot see the details of the factory holder tool in the manual.

How do you guys loosen the lock nut?

this is always tough but a good pipe on heavy duty pull bar ... sometimes ive had to use punch and hammer but im good at that not sure that would work for you

I'm in Altadena, and I have the proper tool for the clutch nut. PM me for my address if you'd like to borrow it.

The first time I pulled that nut I used a screw driver on the tab and tap tap with a hammer counter clockwise. Tightened it the same way, well clockwise of course.
