One a bit more legible would be nicer I think. Preferably without the bullet holes. I'm not familiar with rules on using "collector" plates. I do have a historic plate on one bike. Registration is good for 25 years!

Gonna be a tight fit to bolt that thing on the back of a 'Wing....it might wind up actin as a real wing! :Egyptian:
Technically....you couldn't use it anyway. It's the wrong year, size, and is not a bike plate. Plus, the colors are faded too much.
I bet there's someone, somewhere(in Minnysnowta), with a '47 car, that would LOVE to have it. War-time/immediate post war automotive stuff is hard to come by anymore. :salute:

I have collector plates on my Honda 90, in Mn. you can get them if your bike is 25 years old but are only supposed to use the machine if you are going to a rally or event. I put the 47 plates up just because they are interesting. The fellow that owned this property before me used to paint the backside of the plates as no trespassing signs. This one has probably been on the tree for 60 years. I have lived here for 35 years, should have removed it when I moved here, probably would have been in better shape. 1947 is the year I was born so I will probably hang on to it. I have a couple more from the 50's.

This brings up a subject on our bike a had a question about.

My '83 has what looks like the original California plate on it.
Has anyone tried removing all the stacked up year stickers to get down to the very first one?
Would be cool to see the '83 sticker on it.

You mean to say that the plates STAY WITH THE VEHICLE???????? In Ohio the plates stay with the owner. I know in Michigan trailer plates stay with the trailer.

In Ca. they stay with the vehicle but the owner has the option to keep it.

I see said the blind man as he picked up his hammer and saw!!!!!!!!

I know in some states as in Mn in the picture, the year is on the plate.
In Cali we don't have that.
Each year we have to pay an exorbitant amount of money for the "privilege" to drive on the roads and we get a new years sticker.
My trailer on the other hand does not have to be renewed each year. It has a "PTI" plate (permanant trailer Identification).
When I lived in Oregon registration was $20 for 2 years any personal vehicle.
Here my 05 Suburban is over $400 per year!
The bike is $72.
I hear it has gone up ALOT for new vehicles. That is what bases the yearly renewal charge and goes down a tiny fraction each year.

I think we still had blue plates with yellow lettering in 83. I spent the 80's in the midwest. Don't recall just when our plates went "picturesque".

Be glad you don't live in Iowa. My son and daughter in law do and the amount is based on the VALUE of the vehicle. You could pay several hundred dollars for your tags. That B L O W S ! ! ! !

In Texas, 1975 was the last year for yearly plates. After that, the stickers were used.
A lot of classic car sales make a big deal of a Cally car with the original "Black Plate". You can definitely peel the stickers off, but getting only one at a time off might be wishing a little too hard. Couldn't hurt anything to try, tho. A heat gun, and a NEW razor blade will make the job easier. I peeled about 10 off my 'Wing when I registered it the first time...
