How much is color a factor when you purchase a bike (Goldwing)?

I bought a new bike once... thought I liked the color(s) when in reality I never did warm up to it.

Do you think there are colors that are immanently more marketable than others?

Unscientific survey..... there seems to be a lot of black and red out there.

I'm not really a fan of two tone or flashy paint jobs. I do like pearls and subtle striping tho....

Boy, thats a big question...It seems with the vintage bike`s many times the colors that were deemed repulsive become the more collectible later on, even works for cars.
Not sure if your thinking brand new wing, a 1500-1800 ,or a classic 70,80`s model?.

D,
I like white too - esp. on the new GL's

zman,

I'm thinking older wings, i.e. the ones I have that need paint!

I painted some covers for my 78 red. bought some duplicolor pearlish and put 2k clear over it. Not bad for first time out. the other set is blue - not orig. but similar. Its ok but the red is sexy!

I might be nuts but I want to paint my 83 interstate. And I need to paint my 80 bike - interstate bags, 83 wheels, beach bars. maybe a windshield.

using spray equip this time around.

I guess I'm looking for suggestions in a roundabout way....

Not looking to make money on a sale but I am looking to attract buyers (brk even), down the road. Seems with all the bikes for sale around here and elsewhere, not a lot of interest in Gl's unless they look good and run good. I still see old interstates that have lingered on Cl for months and a couple for more than a year. Same goes for a couple 1000's which I think are more of a classic. The good looking reasonably priced ones go quicker.

I've had two black bikes, sun faded candy red that I painted gold which I regretted after and Crystal(Cambridge Blue) that while it was on cl I didn't like but love now. I like most colors on bikes, but(and pleased don't take offense members) I don't like yellow, orange, brown or purple. As with anything though "different strokes for different folks. "

To me color is a non issue if I'm buying. Too easy really to change the color If the paint looks good I might just keep whatever color it is.

I have built several Street Rods , and Motor Cycles , and painted them all myself , for ME , the more there is to Paint , the Lighter the color is better . . really Bright colors look good on Small Cars , but not as good on Big cars . like say the 65 Mustang in Tangerine Orange , but not on a Caddy . my .2 worth.

Good observation! never crossed my mind - makes sense though.

I'm thinking black for the interestate but I hear it can be problematic i.e. all the imperfections tend to show more.

I know my last attempt made a fool out of me and my prep skills - here's hoping I learned a few things......
