I've got about 2000 miles on mine an quite a bit of that has been on the edge. I have yet to lose the rear end in the twisties. Handling has improved and I can't see any wear yet. Best thing I have done to my 1200.

Im considering a michelin alpine snow runflat tire seems to be the route most gl1800's are taking now-a -days

Snow tire is actually a damn good idea still near the same life as a standard CT with a softer compound ,more sipps to shed/ grip in rainy conditions, tread further up the sidewall ,and more rounded edges . I seriously like the idea behind it ang guys are still claiming 20k miles on one 2-up
