Just an got a carb base gasket, from RockAuto, for an '84 Ford Escort, 1.6L. It is the correct gasket for a Weber DFT 32/32 carb, which I have on my '82 GW. It cost $3.81 cad so about $3.00 usd. It is pretty thick (5/16") which, I guess is good for heat isolation.
Question: My manifold has an open hole where the carb feeds into it. My new gasket has 2 holes for the 2 barrels. Should I cut the middle part of the gasket out to match the manifold? I'm thinking...what if, I don't, and the middle (unsupported) part of the gasket deteriorates and falls into the intake and then engine
